Outdoor family photography.
Room to be yourselves.

Outdoor family photography on Chicago’s North Side, blending candid moments with relaxed portraits.

Family photographs can hold both the togetherness and the little personalities that make your family yours. I look for the unguarded expressions, and I also make space for photographs of everyone gathered together.

A few moments worth keeping.

Let the setting feel like you.

All sessions take place outdoors. Chicago’s North Side is my core area; if you have another neighborhood or nearby location in mind, tell me where you’d like to go so we can discuss travel.

A familiar outdoor setting can give a photograph its own sense of place. Share the kind of backdrop you like and who will be joining you when you get in touch.

There’s no studio to visit. We’ll agree on the location and session details before booking.

A few things you might be wondering.

Do you take posed family photographs too?

Yes. My approach combines candid moments with relaxed portraits, including photographs of the family gathered together.

Can we include individual portraits?

Family photography includes the personalities within the group, too. Tell me if there are particular individual portraits or combinations you would love to capture.

Are the photographs edited?

Yes. The 30-minute session includes 15 edited photographs, and the 60-minute session includes 25. I select and edit your collection, then deliver the high-resolution files by internet download.

What should we wear and bring?

Choose clothes that feel like you and let everyone move comfortably. Colors that work together are enough; everyone doesn’t need to match. Bring layers for the weather and shoes suited to the outdoor location. Water and a small snack can be useful for children, too.

Mention nap times, mobility needs or anything else that would help us choose a comfortable time and place for your family.

What if my child doesn’t want to pose?

Candid photographs leave room for more than a smile at the camera. A quiet moment together, a laugh or an unexpected expression can be part of your family’s story. Tell me what helps your child feel comfortable and any concerns you have when we plan the session.

Should we choose 30 or 60 minutes?

Choose 30 minutes if you’d like a shorter session and a collection of 15 edited photographs. Choose 60 minutes if you’d prefer more time together and a collection of 25 edited photographs. Both take place at one outdoor location and include candid moments and relaxed portraits.

Think about how your family feels in front of a camera: some children prefer a short outing, while others appreciate time to settle in. If you’re unsure, we can talk it through before you book.

What if we have not chosen a location?

You can still inquire. We’ll discuss your family’s needs and the kind of setting you like, and I can suggest outdoor locations that would work well for your session.
